Selecting the month, time and date.

The marriage and the events leading in to the celebration are soaked in traditional customs.

Many followed this rhyme when selecting their marriage month : Marry when the year is new, he will be loving, kind and true. When Feb birds do pal, you married nor dread your destiny. Marry in Apr when you can, joy for maiden and for man. Marry in the month of May, and you'll certainly rue the day.

In the Victorian Age , this advice was taken more seriously than it is today. Beach marriages are preferred but they do present "special issues". Failing to think about these previously could leave you unpleasantly stunned on your marriage day. There's definitely nothing that should dissuade you from your vision of a pretty beach rite. As an interesting point, there are multiple benefits. Your marriage day will be a fabulous and joyous event. The "Pros" * A beach marriage can be much less expensive than a normal marriage. If you have that sort of money to spend, fine, but if not, don't go there. Be practical and remember, the day is what you, your family and friends and your buddies make of it. Frequently brides-to-be are ignorant of the finance strain they place on their marriage attendants and guests. * The marriage rite and reception can all be held right there on the beach. Hey, even the youngsters can have fun at a beach marriage. * A beach marriage enables you to involve everybody in the activities. October was a portentous month, signifying a bountiful crop. Today, most marriages are held on a Sat. , but during the past, this day was considered unfortunate. In the Victorian age, the women would follow this rhyme when thinking about the day of the week for her marriage : Mon. is for wealth Tues. is for health Wed. is the best day of all Thursday is for losses Fri. is for crosses Sat. is for no luck at all Fri. was considered the most unfortunate day to wed, while Wed. was the best day.
